Chrome Plated Stainless Steel Rods
Surface hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion protection are often the key factors that determine the service life of a precision shaft. To meet these requirements, Compass Power Tech provides chrome plated stainless steel precision shafts with improved surface performance for demanding pneumatic, hydraulic, and industrial applications.
Chrome plating increases the surface hardness of the shaft, improves wear resistance, and reduces surface damage during repeated motion. It also enhances corrosion resistance, helping the shaft maintain stable performance in humid, acidic, alkaline, or other challenging working environments.
Many customers choose chrome plated stainless steel shafts for two main reasons. Some applications use austenitic stainless steel for corrosion resistance, but the surface hardness may not be sufficient for long-term wear conditions. In this case, chrome plating helps improve surface hardness and extend service life. Other projects require a balance between cost and mechanical performance. For these applications, materials such as 416 or 420 stainless steel can be selected for their strength and machinability, then chrome plated to further improve corrosion resistance and durability.
